LONDON, UK – The UK recently announced plans to require all drones weighing over 250 grams to be registered, along with mandatory safety exams. The UK Minister of Aviation explained, “Our number one priority is to keep the public safe, and by requiring all drones to be registered, we will have accountability for all drone pilots”

The Aviation Acorn reached out to several convicted felons, who expressed disappointment at the new rule. “I used to smuggle drugs into prisons with drones, but with this new requirement, that becomes a lot more dangerous,” says David Gritzly, who was just released from prison. “If I crashed, they would be able to identify me as the pilot, increasing my chance of getting caught. And if I didn’t register and they couldn’t identify the owner, I could face a large fine. This definitely makes me think twice about my future operations. “
