A Russian software company is now selling modified software for DJI drones that removes the No Fly Zones, including sensitive areas around government and military sites. This has caused concern among authorities, who fear that terrorists and other bad actors may take advantage of these opportunities.
However, the Russian company, named Coptersafe, refuted such concerns and reaffirmed their commitment to safety: “Safety is our number one priority – it’s in our name. We created this software to help people fly safe, and being able to fly wherever you want without any restrictions seems like the best way to do that.”
Authorities seemed distressed at this answer, but were quickly reassured when company representatives added, “For those that are concerned with this ending up in the wrong hands, we promise not the sell to anyone who might do something illegal. We specifically ask customers to provide a reason for their purchase.”
